It’s less than one week til our World Premiere and we’re getting more and more excited to bring AHEAD OF THE CURVE to the West Wind Solano Drive-In as part of the Frameline44 Pride showcase. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces, even if it’s through our car windows!
For many, the thought of celebrating anything right now is challenging. We struggled with how best to approach this film’s premiere, while recognizing and honoring the time we’re living in, and we realized that making space to tell queer stories is in itself an act of resistance. Sharing the story of a visionary and unapologetic celebration of lesbian life and illuminating the call for radical intersectionality in the LGBTQ+ movement is an act of resistance. Our movement was forged in joy and struggle – as queer people, our very existence is resistance – so we’re using our joy as a powerful and nourishing tool to fuel our fight.
READY YOUR RIDE FOR PRIDE
In anticipation of Saturday’s big event, we’re bringing signs and decorating our cars to show our pride loud and proud, and we’d love it if you did too. We have the opportunity to put signage up on the long chain link fence that bisects the lots between the two screens at the Drive-In. Please bring your BLM protest signs and Pride signs to hang!

- Parade Float Supplies Now has a page filled with pride parade float supplies. Oriental Trading also has a page of resources for parade float supplies and decorations. For specific pieces, like the ones you see above, here are some options: Grab some Cosco window markers or neon chalk pens to spell it out, adorn your car with decorations like Vinyl float twists, Philly Rainbow Pride Flags, Rainbow Pride Flags, Float pomps, Rainbow streamer and Rainbow twist garland.
- Get funky with Metallic Floral Sheeting, and Prideful Fireworks Balloons.
- Learn how to attach decorations to your vehicles without damaging here, and be sure to remember the driver’s ability to see through both back and front windows is the most important!
